Survey data shows that in the first quarter and the first half of the year, China's textile industry prosperity index was 55 and 52 respectively, both above the 50 mark, indicating that the industry as a whole is still in a growth cycle.
China's textile industry has generally achieved steady growth in production. In the first half of the year, the industrial added value of textile enterprises above designated size in China increased by 3.6% year-on-year, an increase of 0.8 percentage points higher than the same period of last year, but 1.8 percentage points slower than the first quarter of this year. Among all links in the industrial chain, the industrial added value of the chemical fiber industry maintained a relatively high growth rate of 13%, which was 6.4 percentage points higher than the same period of last year; the industrial added value of the industrial textile industry grew relatively steadily, with a year-on-year growth rate of 7.6% in the first half of the year.
At the same time, the pressure on the quality and efficiency of China's textile industry has increased, and the scale of investment has declined slightly. Since 2019, under the pressure of domestic and foreign markets, the profit pressure of textile enterprises has increased.
Although the pressure on the survival and development of Chinese textile enterprises has increased, the enterprises are still actively accelerating transformation and upgrading, and striving to improve comprehensive management capabilities, and strive to resolve external risks and maintain steady development.
The China National Textile and Apparel Council stated that, on the whole, in the second half of 2019, the external environment faced by China's textile industry will become more complex, but China's macroeconomic environment and domestic demand consumer market will still provide the primary development support for the industry. China's textile industry will continue to promote supply-side structural reforms, deeply tap domestic demand potential, vigorously promote high-quality development, further enhance risk resistance and development resilience, and make every effort to ensure stable operation.
